NEWS FROM THE SEAFARERS WELFARE BOARD

ICMA World Congress
SWB Hon Treasurer, Peter Snow, is to represent the Board at the ICMA World Congress in Hamburg in August 2011.

2011 AGM
The AGM of the Board was held at the offices of Maritime NZ in Wellington in March 2011.
Cdr Larry Robbins stood down as Hon Secretary, Ms Barbara Semb, Apostleship of the Sea Auckland, was appointed in his stead.
Mr G Conway stood down as the AoS representative, Mr Robin Adair took his place. A vote of thanks was recorded to Garry for service over many years.
Rev Des Olney was appointed by Oceania Council of the Mission to Seafarers to the Board.

2010 AGM
The AGM of the Board was held in Wellington on 23 March 2010.
The meeting included discussion on the MLC 2006. Ms Kathy Whelan, former chairman and Hon Secretary since 2007 stood down. She was presented with a small gift.
Long serving Hon.Treasurer, Rev Canon Jim Pether also stood down and was warmly thanked for his dedicated efforts in the support of seafarers welfare over a number of years. He is to retire from the Mission to Seafarers in Wellington in June 2010 after serving for 25 years.
